Fingerprinting is considered to be the gold standard of criminal background checks; providing you with an RCMP-certified record check. Gambit ID captures and submits electronic fingerprints to the RCMP’s Canadian Criminal Real Time Information System (CCRTIS).
During the criminal record check process, you will be required to give an accredited fingerprinting company a copy of your fingerprints. The fingerprints are only used by the RCMP to confirm your identity. After completion of service, they are destroyed; they are not kept nor searched for other purposes.
For applicants who don't have a criminal record, the RCMP will typically process the results within three (3) business days and mail them out. Additional time must be allowed for Canada Post to deliver the results by mail. For applicants with a criminal record, the RCMP processing time can be 120 days or more to mail out a detailed report of the applicant's convictions.
You must bring two (2) pieces of valid, government-issued identification to your fingerprinting appointment, one of which must be primary ID.
